  1. Hey Timothy and Tommy, this is illtexzona from instagram. You guys have inspired me to start up a group (http://instagram.com/chicagocraftclub) in Chicago since I couldn't find an existing one. I was looking for some insight on how you guys run your group.

I was debating on meeting monthly vs weekly? One gives more chances to make it, the other is less demanding.

Weekdays or Weekends? Weekdays people have less obligations after work, but weekends more people have off.

Do you have a minumum amount set that people bring? (i.e. a 22oz bomber)

Do you guys have food at the meetings? I figure palate cleansing is important.

    1. Kody, that's great news! I know I speak for the whole club in saying that we are honored to have had a small effect on another craft beer lover in starting a Bottleshare!

I think in terms of weekly vs monthly, it really all depends on your attendance. If you have enough people that you can have 4+ people show up then by all means weekly is feasible. If you're finding that people have trouble making it that often then monthly is a great start. As the leader you'll have to see what people are able to do.

Weekdays or weekends again goes along with what your friends are able to make. We did Thursdays because it was the day most people were able to make.

I'd say for 4-6 people, 1 bomber or 2 12oz bottles should be fine. If you find that your attendance is greater you'll obviously have to compensate it to have a good tasting amount for everyone to try. We had this blog so that we could keep track of weekly attendance in terms of how many people were coming and what they were bringing so different people wouldn't bring the same beer. Every week I deleted all the comments on this thread and started anew.

Most people ate before the meeting to not have a very many aromas and flavors in their mouth to be able to accurately taste and smell the beer. Cheap pretzels are a great palate cleanser. You can offer to bring it yourself or assign one attendee to bring a bag for each meeting. Or, if you'll be having meetings at different houses you can have the policy of the host providing pretzels for the respective meeting.

Thanks for the post man! Let me know if you have any other questions. Again, we are all honored and best of luck to your club. Cheers!
